Wowie jam 3.0

Wowie Jam 3.0

No overall score but Creativity #161, Fun #205, Sound #240, Simplicity #307, WOWIE! #375, Visuals #533 and Topic #740. I'm happy with that I think it accurately reflects the feedback I got. And a lot of feedback I did get, this is my most popular project to date. I got 35 comments and replied and absorbed every one of them.

Lessons Learned:

  • Build early and often. With my first build occurring 1.5 hours before the end of the jam, this was a lot more stressful than it had to be.
  • Smaller scope helps. People like to play small, easy games during a gamejam. It also allows me to put more polish on the game. Things I don't tend to prioritise such as Story, Dialogue and Humour are some of the things I most love in this game and what makes it feel the most like MY game.
  • Community Rate for Rate helps with popularity.
  • Majority of plays/views occurred the first 3 days of the week long rating period.
  • Having more ratings doesn't lead to a better score but it does mean you get more feedback.
  • Non-english gamers exist and they should be able to play your game. That means delivering as much as possible of your game in ways that anyone can understand. I relied too heavily on the English language for every button which I witnessed put a gamer off entirely. I have hopefully rectified this slightly as I can in the latest update.
  • Stick to the topic. Make it obvious and prominent.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to play The Squire and the Jiggle Knight.

I may do more updates in the future.
